Coming of age chick flicks were the backbone of my childhood. Unfortunately, that meant a large part of my perception of women was built on the ideas those films shared - and while I love them dearly, they weren’t always accurate depictions. Characters seen as unapologetically feminine are villainised; girls are made see each other as competition; the protagonist must be quirky but still perform femininity enough to be seen as attractive; the list goes on. Be Aggressive! aims to be a critique of these tropes, as well as an exploration into why they exist at all.
